Where to put your QR signs.
Each exhibit's QR code opens that exhibit's page in your guide. Put it at the exhibit itself, where visitors stop to look.
Steps
-
In the sidebar, under Content, click Discovery.
-
Under Most scanned exhibits, see which signs visitors use most. An exhibit missing from the list may need its sign moving.
Good places
- At the exhibit, beside the tank or enclosure, so the page matches what visitors are looking at.
- Where people pause, such as by a viewing window or a bench, rather than in a doorway where they keep walking.
- At a comfortable height for adults and children, in good light, and away from glare on glass or shiny laminate.
- Somewhere with phone signal or your Wi-Fi. The guide needs a connection to open.
Why the exhibit's own sign matters
- Animals, films and quizzes only count towards a visitor's Discovery progress after they've scanned that exhibit's code on the same day. One code per exhibit is enough for this.
- An animal's own code opens its fact file and also counts as scanning its exhibit. Use these where you want to point to one animal.
Good to know
- If an exhibit is hidden or under maintenance, its code still works and shows visitors a friendly notice, so you can leave the sign up.
- If an exhibit closes for good, take its signs down. Its code then shows “We can't find that exhibit”.
