Write a blog post.
A blog is a set of posts on one theme, such as a keepers' diary. You create the blog once, then write posts (called entries) in it, and show it on an exhibit so visitors can read it.
Steps
-
In the sidebar, under Content, click Blogs.
-
If you already have a blog for this post, go to step 5. Otherwise, click + Create New Blog, below the list.
-
Give the blog a Title and a Description. Visitors see both above the posts.
-
Click Save Blog. It appears in the list.
-
In the blog's row, click Manage Entries.
-
Click Add Blog Entry.
-
Type the post's Title and Content, and an Author if you like. Leave a blank line between paragraphs.
TipA team name such as “The penguin team” works well as the author. Leave it empty and the post shows no author.
-
Under Image, choose No Image, Use URL to paste a picture's web address, or Upload Image to choose a picture from your computer (up to 10MB).
-
Leave Status as Published to show the post, or choose Draft to keep working on it. In Published Date, leave it empty to publish when you save, or pick a later date and time to schedule it.
-
Click Save Entry. You're taken back to the blog's list of entries, where Status shows Published, Scheduled or Draft.
Show the blog on an exhibit
- Visitors find a blog through an exhibit. In Exhibits & Objects, open the exhibit, click + Add New Object, choose Blog as the Object Type, pick your blog under Select Blog, then click Save & publish.
- You only do this once per blog. New posts appear on the exhibit as soon as you save them.
- In Blogs, the blog's Status then says “Assigned to” and the exhibit's name.
Good to know
- Visitors see the newest post first, each with its date and, if you gave one, “By” and its author.
- Visitors never see a Draft. To publish it later, edit the post and set Status to Published.
- A Scheduled post appears for visitors on its Published Date, with nothing more to do.
