How Discovery badges work.
As visitors explore your guide, they tick off the animals and objects they find and collect badges. It all happens on their own phone, with no sign-up, and there's nothing for you to set up.
Steps
-
In the sidebar, under Content, click Discovery.
-
Under Redeemable badges, rest the pointer on a badge's name to see what earns it.
How a discovery counts
- A visitor makes a discovery by opening a fact file, watching a film, listening to an audio guide or finishing a quiz.
- It only counts after they've scanned that exhibit's QR code on the same day. Reading the guide at home still works, it just doesn't tick anything off.
- Each visitor's progress is in the Discovery Hub in your guide: how much they've found, their badges, and how far through each exhibit they are.
The badges
- First Find: open their first fact file.
- Explorer: discover in 3 different exhibits.
- Quiz Whiz: finish a quiz.
- Film Fan: watch 2 videos.
- All Ears: listen to 2 audio guides.
- Superfan: heart 5 favourites.
- Welcome Back: come back on a second day.
- Deep Diver: discover 25 species.
- Perfect Score: score 100% on a quiz.
- Zone Complete: see everything in one exhibit.
- Zone Master: complete 3 whole exhibits.
- Spotter: find something added since their last visit.
- Trailblazer: finish all 5 stops on a Today's trail, a short list of things to go and find that changes each day.
- Completionist: discover everything in your guide.
Good to know
- The badges are the same for every venue, and you can't change them. You can choose which ones earn a real reward in Discovery rewards.
- Hidden exhibits and hidden animals don't count, so a visitor can still complete an exhibit while part of it is closed.
- Progress belongs to the visitor's phone and browser. If they come back on the same phone, they carry on where they left off.
