Create a donation appeal.
An appeal is a cause visitors can give to, such as a rescue, a new habitat or a partner charity. It shows as a card with a donate button on the exhibits and animals it helps.
Steps
-
In the sidebar, under Content, click Donations.
-
Click + New appeal.
TipIf your plan doesn't include appeals, a box opens saying “Appeals are part of Accelerate”, with an Upgrade to Accelerate button.
-
Under 1 · The appeal, type a Name, the Headline visitors see and a line or two on What the money does.
-
Under 2 · Who it's for, choose Our own conservation work or A partner charity. For a charity, add its Charity name and Registered number.
-
Under 3 · Amount, type a Suggested amount.
TipVisitors see your suggestion with one amount either side, and can always type their own, from £1 to £1,000.
-
If you want a goal, under 4 · Goal, switch on Set a goal and show progress. Then type the Goal and choose what happens When the goal is reached. You can also pick a date it Ends.
-
Under 5 · Where it shows, click Choose exhibits, species and animals.
-
Tick the places it should show.
-
Click Done.
-
Click Create appeal. It's saved as a draft, which visitors can't see.
-
When you're ready, switch on Live. It saves straight away, and the appeal is live for visitors.
TipYou can also switch on Live before you click Create appeal, to make it live as soon as it's created.
What visitors see
- The Live preview beside the form shows the card as it looks on a phone: your headline, what the money does, the progress bar if you set a goal, who the money goes to, and a Donate button.
- Visitors only see a live appeal once Stripe is connected in Payments.
Good to know
- After you've created the appeal, you can add money from collection boxes and events under Money raised elsewhere: type the amount and where it was raised, then click + Add. It counts towards the goal.
- A name and a headline are required. If anything is missing, a message under the buttons says what to fix.
- Only Admins can see Donations.
