A screen has gone offline.
Each screen checks in with Curious every minute. If one stops checking in during its opening hours, Curious tells you, so you can sort it out before visitors notice.
Steps
-
In the sidebar, under Content, click Live Labels.
-
Find the screen and read its Status, for example Offline since Tue 14:05.
-
Go to the screen. Check it's switched on, connected to the internet, and still showing the Curious page rather than another app or the TV's home screen.
-
If the page has gone, open the screen's link again: click Set up in its row and use Copy link or the QR code.
-
Back in Live Labels, the Status changes to Online within a minute of the screen checking in.
What each status means
- Online: the screen checked in during the last few minutes.
- Offline since …: no check-in for more than 3 minutes. "(outside its hours)" means it's outside the screen's Should be on hours, so it isn't flagged.
- Online, but the page is covered: the screen is on, but something is showing over the Curious page.
- No taps today: a touch screen nobody has tapped today. Check it hasn't frozen.
- Waiting for first check-in: the link hasn't been opened on the screen yet.
Good to know
- Problems also appear on Home under Needs attention, with an Open Live Labels button. You'll see "is offline", "has never been switched on" (an hour after you add it), "is on, but something is covering the page" or "hasn't been touched today" (for touch screens, four hours after opening).
- Curious only raises these during each screen's Should be on hours, so screens switched off at night don't cause alarms. To change the hours, click Edit in the screen's row and set Should be on.
- When the internet drops, the screen keeps showing its last copy of the exhibit, so "offline" doesn't always mean the screen is blank.
- If you have several screens, use Identify to check you're looking at the right one.
