Copy an animal into another exhibit.
When the same species lives in more than one exhibit, you don't need to type its fact file twice. Copy the one you've already written into the other exhibit, then change anything that's different. You can also copy an animal within its own exhibit, to start a new one from a similar fact file.
Steps
-
In the sidebar, under Content, click Exhibits & Objects.
-
Click the row of the exhibit you're adding it to.
-
Below the list, click + Add New Object.
-
In Start with, choose the animal to copy. The list shows each one as exhibit, name and Object ID. Its whole fact file, photo included, fills in below and shows in the phone preview.
-
Check that Exhibit shows the exhibit you're adding it to, not the one you copied from.
TipA copy in the same exhibit as the original is added as a new animal with a new Object ID. The original stays as it is.
-
Change anything that's different here, such as the descriptions or the photo.
-
Click Save & publish.
Good to know
- In a different exhibit, the copy keeps the same Object ID as the original. That's how Curious knows it's the same species in two places. In the same exhibit, it gets a new Object ID, the same way a new animal does.
- The two are saved separately. Changing one later doesn't change the other.
- Prioritise this object and Hide from visitors aren't copied. They start unticked, so tick them if you need them.
- Cancel takes you back to the exhibit you started from.
